최근 AR 제품 소개
AR은 스마트폰의 확산과 함께 앱을 통해 다양한 분야에서 사용될 것으로 예상했는데 생각만큼 널리 사용되지는 않는 것 같다. 그 이유는 이용자가 쉽고 편리하게 그리고 유용하게 사용되어야 하는데, AR 테크는 아직까지 많은 한계를 지니고 있기 때문이다. AR을 활용하기 위해 AR 안에 정보가 코딩되어야 하고, 그 정보를 이용자가 쉽고 유용하게 사용해야 하는데, 충분한 정보를 제공하기에 많은 비용이 들고, 그 비용만큼 수익이 나올 수 있는 시장 환경이 되지 않으니 기껏 소개되는 AR 제품이라고 해봐야 유치한 단계의, 소비자의 관심을 끌지 못하는 것 뿐이다. 미래 사회를 보여주는 영상에서 가장 많이 소개되는 테크가 바로 AR인데 현재는 단지 컨셉 단계에만 머물고 있는 실정이다. 미래에 AR이 앱을 통해 어떻게 활용될지 보여주는 간단한 영화가 있다.

콘택트 렌즈처럼 껴서 언제고 자기가 원하는 정보를 얻는다는 내용이지만, 이런 기술이 쉽사리 소개될 것 같지는 않다. 최근 google glasses를 통해 AR이 일부 적용될 것으로 보이지만, 매우 기본적인 단계일 것으로 예상한다.
이러한 한계에도 불구하고 몇몇 제품들은 눈길을 끌고 있기도 하다. 대부분 아이들을 대상으로 하기도 하지만, 성인들에게도 소구할만한 제품도 보인다.
여자 아이들을 대상으로 한 steady seller인 바비 인형과 공주놀이도 AR을 통해 그 인기를 유지할 수 있을지 모르겠다.
